Figured I should post about last month's vacay before we head out to the Pocono's on Saturday. Sadly, my pictures are not cooperating. Guess pics will have to come later. Despite the heat, we had a great time at Hershey Park. It's so much bigger than I imagined. There's so much to do that we probably could have spent a couple of days in the park. Some of the chocolate made it back to Ohio, it was just a smidge bit melty.
Mom and I stopped in Maryland on the way home and spent Sunday with Aunt Jo, Uncle Marvin, Krista and Adam. It was so good to spend the day with them. Despite all that's going on at their house, they're still an amazing family. They showed me that love endures all. I just wish we were closer and could be of more help to them.
When we got back to Ohio, Tommy and his fiancee Sarah were here for the week. They came in for Elliott's 4th birthday party. While they were here we had all kinds of quality family time. Tuesday night we had a cookout at Mom's. On Wednesday, Mom, Peggy, Sarah & I went wedding dress shopping, followed by lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. And that night we all went to the Indians game. Sarah had never been to a MLB game, but she and Tommy had a pretty good time. They flew back to NC on Thursday, and I went back to work.
Work has been fine. I still hate night shift. We're seeing lots of ortho injuries, lacerations and foreign bodies. We've had multiple traumas most days, the one I did the other night was sad, so I won't go into details. Working the next four days, but then I'm off for vacation!!!
Most of the fam will be heading to the Pocono's for vacation starting Saturday. The last two years we went to the beach, so we'll see how it goes in the mountains. I'm really not the "outdoorsy" type. I'd much rather sleep/read in my beach chair. Annie has promised to go white water rafting with me, so that will be fun. I'm hoping we'll all go kayaking too. Hiking may not be my thing if it's stays as humid as it has been lately.
The fam will be getting together again in September, but this time in Texas, for Tommy and Sarah's wedding. Not sure if the date is official yet, hopefully we'll get some details soon. Suppose I could call Tommy, but I'm just so out of the habit of calling him. For years we haven't been able to call him directly, so it doesn't occur to me to just pick up the phone. Maybe later.
